Donor Advised Fund Giving — Recommend a Grant to Student LunchBox
Student LunchBox is a Candid Platinum-rated 501(c)3 nonprofit serving 8,000+ college students monthly across 17 Los Angeles campuses. A grant from your Donor Advised Fund goes directly to students balancing education, family, and financial hardship—removing hunger as a barrier to graduation, one campus at a time.

Every Grant Moves a Student
Closer to Graduation
Two in every five college students in Los Angeles County cannot afford consistent, nutritious meals. They attend class hungry, skip meals to cover rent, and face a daily financial pressure that threatens their ability to stay enrolled. Student LunchBox exists to address this reality head-on — bringing free food, clothing, hygiene products, and household essentials directly to students at 17 partner campuses across Los Angeles every single week. We meet students where they are, on the campuses where they study, as part of the community they already belong to.

Your DAF grant funds that sustained, campus-embedded presence, the weekly distributions, the Essential Closet, and the student ambassadors who show up because they understand what their peers are going through. It is one of the most direct, measurable investments you can make in the academic futures of Los Angeles college students.

Q: How do I search for Student LunchBox in my DAF sponsor’s portal?
Search by our legal name — Student LunchBox, Inc. — or by our EIN: 85-2482031. If you experience difficulty finding us, contact your DAF administrator directly and provide our mailing address: 10401 Venice Blvd, Suite 462, Los Angeles, CA 90034.

Q: Should I notify Student LunchBox after recommending a grant?
Yes — we strongly encourage it. Many DAF sponsors do not share donor contact information with recipient organizations. Notifying us at info@studentlunchbox.org ensures we can send a grant acknowledgment letter and an impact report.

Q: Can I designate my DAF grant to a specific campus or program?
Yes. We can direct DAF grants to specific partner campuses or program areas upon request. Please note your preference when you notify us of your grant recommendation; however, we highly encourage general operating support.

Q: Is my DAF contribution tax-deductible?
Your contribution to your DAF account is tax-deductible in the year it is made, not when you recommend the grant. Your DAF sponsor will provide all necessary tax documentation. Student LunchBox does not issue tax receipts for DAF grants, as the deduction is associated with your original contribution to the DAF.

Q: Can a corporation or family foundation recommend a DAF grant?
DAFs are personal giving accounts, not corporate or foundation vehicles. Corporations and family foundations have separate giving structures. For corporate giving inquiries, please visit our Corporate Giving page. For foundation grant inquiries, contact info@studentlunchbox.org.

Q: What is the minimum DAF grant amount?
Student LunchBox welcomes DAF grants of any amount. Minimum grant amounts are determined by your DAF sponsor, not by us. Most major sponsors require a minimum grant recommendation of $50 to $500.
